30, 60 or 90 Degrees: Laundry Expert Konrad Kopecky in ORF Interview 

In the April 9, 2025 edition of ORF’s Konkret, Dr. Konrad Kopecky offered valuable insights into proper laundry practices for the home. As an expert from SALESIANER, he shared practical tips on caring for washing machines and storing textiles correctly. 

In the interview, Kopecky emphasized the importance of careful laundry practices to extend the life of textiles. He particularly highlighted the need to pay attention to care labels and avoid unnecessarily high washing temperatures. 

Hygiene was a central topic: “For bed linens and towels, a 60-degree wash with a heavy-duty detergent is usually sufficient – it reliably eliminates bacteria and viruses,” said Kopecky. He also pointed out the importance of resource-conscious washing: “The gentler the wash, the better it is for both textiles and the environment.” 

Kopecky also discussed the role of professional laundry service providers and their high hygiene standards. Especially in healthcare and nursing facilities, a safe and traceable laundry logistics system is essential.
