A Second Life for Workwear: SALESIANER Promotes Textile Circular Economy
The SALESIANER Group is collaborating with five other companies on an innovative pilot project for the recycling of workwear. Together with Austrian Airlines, City Airport Train (CAT), ÖBB, Austrian Post, and Wiener Linien, a sustainable circular system is being established to reduce over 50 tons of textile waste per year.
Large-Scale Recycling
As part of the project, the participating companies collect used uniforms, which are then processed through a specialized recycling system. The textiles are sorted in Lower Austria and transported by train in an environmentally friendly manner to Germany and Portugal, where specialized partners transform them into new yarns or filling materials. As Austria's leading textile rental company, SALESIANER brings its extensive expertise to the circular process. The company focuses on sustainable concepts to efficiently reuse textiles and generate a meaningful impact together with strong partners in Austria.
A Milestone for the Textile Industry
With this partnership, the participating companies are making a strong statement for a sustainable textile economy in Austria. The innovative reuse of workwear not only reduces textile waste but also strengthens the domestic recycling industry. This project aims to serve as a model and encourage other companies to join.
